Effectiveness of aloe vera extract on episiotomy wound healing among postnatal mothers in a selected hospital at Coimbatore

AQuasi experimental pre test post test control group was adopted for this study. This design was found to be appropriate to identify the effectiveness of aloe vera extract in the progress of episiotomy wound healing. The demographic and clinical variables like age of the mother, education status, occupation of women, monthly income, religion, Type of family, Type of diet, Social support, Place of residence, Parity of the women, type of lochia, episiotomy pain, degree of episiotomy, perineal care, type of episiotomy, mode of delivery, duration of labour, whether local anesthesia given, type of suture material used for episiotomy showed no significant association with post test score of score of episiotomy wound healing among postnatal mothers in experimental group.The findings of the study showed that the aloe vera extract was effective in improving the level of episiotomy wound healing There was no significant association found between the level of pain and episiotomy wound healing with selected demographic and clinical variables. On the basis of the study, the researcher concluded that the application of fresh aloe vera gel has a significant effect on improving the level of episiotomy wound healing among postnatal mother.
